Finger Movies - the ideal way to create mini kickstarter movies

Whilst creating my first ever Kickstarter project for the creation of Pallet Powered Gardens, I wanted to create a quick and funny video to show how the gardens would flourish and grow on the streets, but it had to be low budget.



I thought one hour would be long enough, but in total it was 4.5 hours with a lot of repeating the script again and again. Coughing, forgetting the lines, picking the wrong item. Also, failing to have a stand for the camera I used my daughter's lego to construct a stand with a slight tilt. Lego is universal!

The two characters featured in the video are from an old photo of me and one from a Hello Magazine celebrity - plenty to choose from, all ready with added makeup and smiles. Bluetack on the back and stuck to a hand creating a mini-character instantly.

The stage is the inside of a breakfast box using foil on the windows.

The Pallet Powered Gardens are lolly sticks stuck together - I cheated with the veg as it's grass and a bit of a flower. Looked nice though.

Chalkboards for Learning

Whilst living on a boat we had to create areas of interest for our daughter Mia to play in. When creating a doorway to cover the hatch exit we covered it in chalkboard paint so it could be used for lot of different things: Learning to draw and write with Mia Writing notes Leaving messages for other people So I say we can take this idea further just like in the image below and have chalkboards on every childs bedroom wall. Providing a fun learning area that is reusable and cheap to get up and running. I think this should be supported by governments and companies as a cheap and fun way to teach children and provide them with an area of creativity. A Garden Zoo with Friends

After moving house and collecting a lot of cardboard packaging - what to do with it all? Straight down to the tip? Well the first load went that way and then I thought, hey maybe I can do something with this stuff? So 30 minutes later with my daughter insisting on helping me we had a larger than life "Upsy Daisy" and a "Snap Happy Annie" Crocodile in the garden made from cardboard packaging from Ikea . These look great and our little girl couldn't help but drag the 2d characters around the garden and gave them great big hugs.   Could this be taken further - maybe drop some characters in a park (nice ones only please). Build a Zoo in the city? Not too many now or else the cardboard will get everywhere but for special occasions and fun.
